When I worked at McDonald's, the ice cream machine was ALWAYS working. However, we were told to tell customers "it was down" anytime we had to add more mix and wait for it to freeze(of course you also had to wait for someone to actually go and get the mix too). Instead of explaining to customers what the issue was and dealing with those that "don't mind waiting"(until they realize they've been waiting a loooong time), it was easier to say "I'm sorry, the ice cream machine is down right now, would you like to try our apple pie?"(as if a hot apple pie is a substitute for an ice cream cone in the middle of Summer🙄). We also had some lazy employees in the evening who liked to clean the machine early so they could go home faster after closing, so they simply wouldn't sell icecream after they had cleaned the machine...🙄
It works but only during certain hours of the day.....IT IS A HIT OR MISS SITUATION. LOL...They say it is down or being cleaned.
