To be fair, most wooded parks and preserves have a tick population. It is smarter to just assume that any wooded area you go to will have ticks and plan accordingly.
The tick population in NY trails has increased significantly overall. Our recent mild winters have not helped to control the population. Always use tick repellant sprays with DEET, it's scientifically proven to work.

Especially on long island since there is no effort what sonever to control th tick issie. You need to assume any wooded or seminwooded area is tick infested. Even back yards in suffolk are prones to ticks.
