We are going to this park for last many years. It is well mantained with 3 grove areas. It offers barbeque areas with picnic tables, a lake along with walking trail, a little animal haven zoo( which was not quite mantained and now they are moving animals to other animal havens for better care). It has large ground for soccer, football and cricket. Over all it has almost everything for everyone.

Great looking park, definitely one of the nicer parks in NJ. Tennis courts are great... My one critique is the park ranger staff are unnecessarily mean/rude/strict. Let people enjoy the park and don't take yourself so seriously is my advice but what do I know.

We gather here periodically for a Sunday drum circle! We usually find parking.

The poor animals are locked in tiny cages. The racoon there was pacing back and forth for hours straight and appeared to be exhibiting stereotypical behaviour which occurs after long periods of extreme stress.

Yes, you can as long as you're following park rules and regulations
The Grove is on the other side of the play ground.
For the day
Not sure about that. Go to the Park's page.
Johnson Park is long and runs along the river in two towns. One end is pretty close to the downtown area of Highland Park, and there are some pizza shops there (Highland Pizza is a favorite of mine, but there's a few more), but as you move towards and through Piscataway it is more of a residential area.
Better b safe than sorry
