My daughter is a US citizen, we paid 10 or 20 dollars when she goes to DR. Just have a US passport uptodate

I'm not associated with the consulate, but I do not believe there are requirements and you shouldn't need a visa to go to the Dominican Republic as a US citizen. You might benefit calling or searching their website tho.
