If you are going to renew your passport, they will give you a new one, which is the biometric one. As of 2021, every time the passport is renewed, they give you a new one with a new number. I went to the consulate a week ago and everything I told you happened to me, you just have to give your DNI number at the costumer service window. You make the appointment on the consulates website and you only have to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. The cost is 70 dollars and the photo is taken there. The bad thing takes 45 to 60 days to deliver your new passport. Oh, and if you don't want to look bad in your passport photo, be well groomed for it.
Are you getting a new passport or are you renewing it? For new passports, I’m not sure what you need. For renewals, I just brought my expired passport, $70, and my DNI. For passports, they take the picture on site. For DNI, you have to bring your own photos.
