I sent in a UK Visa application with photo of my passport. I received an email stating they didn't receive my passport. Does this mean that they want my actual passport?

For your own good and sanity don’t even try dealing with the Embassy, their service is minus 1, you don’t want to know the what I went through and still now I don’t know where my passport is. Their 3rd party VFS is also not good at all.
