Dealing with same issue as you have in the state of SC you have only 5 days from cancellation date to reinstate. Also. You are billed for the month you were cancelled and that payment is added on to another month payment and that is to be paid in full upon reinstatement. Hope this helps. And they also they turn in your info of non insured vehicle to DMV where you are fined each day insurance was not on the vehicle
Gainsco has no grace period. If the policy expires on yhe 20th, you have to renew before 2am on the 20th or your policy will be cancelled. Same with payments.
I have been an agent for Gainsco for at least 6 years now in SC and you have always had 30 days to reinstate your policy as long as you can sign a statement of no loss. If it was your renewal and you were entering your previous term to make payment (the number at the end goes up by 1 at each renewal) then that is why it would not pull it up. Also if you are behind by a payment and past the next month's due date then yes, you would have to pay a double bill. However, if you sign a statement of no loss, there are no fees at the DMV. That is only if you don't reinstate without a lapse.
