To get to the hill you have to purchase a ticket and a bus takes you to the castle, and once you're there it's an hour tour then your allowed to walk around yourself. But it's worth it.

As others have said a tour ticket us required. There are at least a couple of tour options and ours was $25. Bus trip is included and required from the Visitors Centrer to the Castle and is about 15 mins long. You can then wander the outside of the grounds.
