As others have said, yes it is best to buy in advance during peak times. However you will be charged a $8 fee extra per ticket to book online. So if you are flexible and go during non peak times you will save some money by buying on site.

It depends on what part of the year you want to go. If you mean reserve tickets online, then yes, that is recommended during the busy season. Summertime and spring are the absolute worst. I would strongly recommend not "winging it" during peak vacation times...January is a good time when there are less people. Normally, it's less crowded.
