Check with Animal Medical Hospital and CARE if you want a board certified surgeon at a better price with better post op care. Prices are fair. Definitely don't expect a vet bill when you go to the emergency clinic, but they don't charge you in excess; when I saw the bill I thought it was fair. And agreed with "it depends."

Saying, "It depends.", isn't a punt, in this case. Prices for emergency visits seem fair and the doctors are very good. However, "advanced" diagnostics (MRI, ultrasound) are quite expensive.
