The experience my parents had while living at Windsor Run in Matthews NC was very good. They were occasionally dissatisfied with food service hours, and were upset that the on-site store was closed down shortly after they moved in, but were very happy with the service, their apartment, the common areas, and overall experience. My mother passed away in 2019 and my stepdad in Nov 2021. It’s been over 6 months and his beneficiaries still have not received the refund for their unit. I got a phone call 4 weeks ago stating the disbursement was forthcoming and that someone would be in touch “by the end of the week” to verify how beneficiaries would like to receive the funds. It’s been FOUR WEEKS and I haven’t heard a thing. Called them today and the woman repeated over and over and over that I needed to get all information from the estate’s executor, (EVEN THOUGH THE FUNDS ARE NOT PART OF THE ESTATE). She adamantly refused to answer my question: “why was I contacted about disbursement and told it was immediately forthcoming, but it didn’t happen and now no one will talk to me??”. She didn’t answer that question and instead insisted there would only be one point of contact and that is the executor in this case. Again, SHE contacted ME a month ago, but now will tell me nothing at all about why they didn’t follow through with what they said was going to happen!! Further, the executor was told in November that we were being put on a waiting list and it would take 4-6 months (on average) for the unit to sell and the refund to be issued. 6 months has elapsed and NOW he has recently been told that once he signs an “approval letter” that he’ll be PUT ON THE WAITING LIST. Which means another 4-6 months!!!! That was the first he’d been told about an approval letter!! He would have done the Approval Letter in November had he known! Finally someone conceded and said “we have a lot of new people so maybe that was not relayed”. NOT AN EXCUSE. So we are 6 months beyond my stepdad’s passing, and are being told that we are just NOW being placed on a 4-6 month waiting list - even though it was their omission as far as relaying the Approval Letter requirement in the very beginning. Who in the world would NOT sign an approval letter as soon as possible? And how did no one “catch” that one was not signed and on file? And Windsor Run is not willing to speak to us as beneficiaries...”only ONE contact person”. They are withholding substantial funds that belong to the beneficiaries and don’t even have the courtesy of explaining the holdup to us!!! If the executor were an attorney, I guess we would be paying him just to get any info from Windsor Run!! He is as frustrated as we are and definitely feels like he’s been getting the runaround. My parents would be appalled by this. Again, great place to live, but once you’re gone they will jerk your loved ones around to no end, retaining the refund (and the interest it’s earning) INDEFINITELY. They should be willing to speak on the phone to people they owe a LARGE SUM OF MONEY to. I hung up having received zero information, and feeling patronized and angry.

My parents lived in development for about three years . They loved the people living in the community . The thing is everything is supposed to be convenient however often times they complained that the doctor in the building could not accommodate their emergency need and the food was often not consistent in taste and quality. Also the carpet on the floor in building has a pattern on it which can cause anyone to get dizzy while walking on it . All rugs in senior buildings need to be one color and no pattern to avoid this problem. Please be aware when purchasing at these kinds of places .Also note that their are EMS workers in building but no security cameras in halls so if you should fall it may take awhile for them to locate you and also get you the help you need. Buyer Beware !

This place is toxic and unhealthy, everyone talks about everyone. Shelagh is beyond rude and I honestly do not understand how she still has a job. The head chef is drama filled, and uses nothing but vulgar language. This place needs to be cleaned up and replaced with new staff.
