In home Hospice services are covered by insurance in most cases. The Medicare Hospice Benefit is covered under Medicare Part A. Medicare beneficiaries who choose hospice care receive a full scope of medical and support services. The Medicare Hospice Benefit covers all of the care related to the terminal illness(and related illness) that is determined medically necessary by the hospice physician. Room and Board are not covered by the Medicare Hospice Benefit. You may receive hospice services wherever you live, even in a nursing home or at a residential hospice like Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Fredon, NJ. Hospice at home is covered but if you go into the facility for “maintenance” care, there is a room and board fee.
