09/26/16. KAQ nurses were around the clock taking care of my husband. He passed away with dignity and peace. My son, dog and myself were able to stay with him for two weeks overnight and during the week our friends and family came to visit. The nurses even took care of my dog so my friends could take me for lunch or dinner. With all the horrible stress I put up for a summer in and out of rehabs, sub-rehabs, and hospitals, it was such a true relief that my husband was able to rest and let go. As one of the nurses told me when she woke me up, “Tim has wings now.” KAQ made the parting of my husband peaceful and less stressful on my son and I. We can’t thank you enough for the care you gave my son, dog and me during a most scary, confusing and yet, relieving time. Thank you, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice for being there for me. I just want to add that our cat of 16 years just passed away on 09/26/21. Her ashes are now next to my husband’s.

Michelle was such an amazing nurse, she really cared about my great grandfather for the few short days he was on hospice & not only did she show compassion and empathy towards him; she showed it to the family. I don’t know what we would have done without her for those few short days but her care and professionalism will be remembered forever. Thank you for helping us follow through with honoring his wishes to pass peacefully and comfortably at home. So extremely grateful. Thank you Michelle and those at KAQ

I was involved in the last 5 days of my brother-in-law's battle with cancer. I saw Hospice workers come and work wonderfully with him and my sister and niece. They were all so professional, friendly, kind and helpful. But there is always one bad apple. All six times my family had to deal with a certain overnight nurse it went badly! We learned that during his final hours there were medications we could have used, we could have had someone with us to help us through his very painful transition, if she had bothered to tell us. We asked for help and she said, "Call after he takes his final breath."

Hi Mimi, The Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon has 10 beds.

Does anyone know of an organization that would send someone to stay a few hours on the day after chemo. Patient gets ill and wife needs to go to work. This would have to be free and is in wantage. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
