How do you pay to camp...drove there...nobody around..is it free
Yes, I go every year. Inexpensive and totally awesome.
I'm not 100% sure but the immediate Park area there's more to that Park then the waterfall and picnic area. I believe you can camp there but I'm not sure if there's cabins available or is it just tents. So I will say yes that there is some kind of camping available. I do I know that there are plenty of spots for RVs cuz power is available
There's no cabins
Camping is for tents and self contained campers. There is NO sewage dump site offered. Just pull in, set up and someone will be around the collect the fee ,(which I'm sure is more than it used to be), butless for CT residents. I spent my entire youth in Devils Hopyard, and recommend it highly. There is a quick way to the summit that takes 5 minutes to walk up, but thats a se ret. Ahh, a good reason to spend time there just to figure that one out. I live in East Haddam now and I still go to the Hopyard just because it's such a beautiful place.
I camped there in the '70s, about a dozen boondock sites. No hookups, water and port-o-let on site at that time. See here : https://www.ct.gov/deep/cwp/view.asp?a=2716&q=325034&deepNav_GID=1621
The camping area is across the road from Chapman Falls in Devil's Hopyard. It is completely separate. Recommended!
