No swimming is permitted, and with good reason! The area below Chapman Falls in Devil's Hopyard is filled with boulders and other dangers. Sitting on the banks is fine, and a good way to cool off. Swimming in the stream is impossible because it is too shallow. Go to a different State Park to swim. Don't risk your life.
NO SWIMMING signs around the waterfall area especially and the river below is too small & shallow.
There's also plenty of safer places to cool off downstream from the falls.
Signs posted say otherwise and it's not really big enough to swim.
Exactly, cooling off is fine.. spending 5 hours diving.. not so much.
No,swimming sign is posted. Looks like its been there since 1800's but still posted. It is however a very nice place. Im sure if you dipped your toes in the river nobody would mind
Not like doing laps swimming but you can cool off in the water.
