What is the time duration for return/exchanging a product? In my case it is an unused wastebasket.

With a receipt, I have returned/exchanged items that I purchased more than 3 months prior. Without a receipt, you can exchange or return item(s) at anytime, as long as they still carry the item(s). They have no clue when the item(s) was purchased without a receipt. They will give you store credit (on a Walmart Gift Card) for returns without a receipt.
