I live locally and heard on the news the rest area is closed until late spring 2018. I didn't look into it too much but I'm almost certain the entire rest area including the parking lot is closed for renovations until spring 2018- the report states by memorial day 2018
I passed by the Welcome Center Thursday night and saw heavy digging equipment in the truck parking area. I will have to stop by there soon to see what is happening and get it on the air.
Will reopwn after renovation.
