How can I find out my license are valid?
I was told that I had to have either my passport or birth certificate. And I had a birth certificate in plastic as the court house in Edenton provide me but the lady at the info desk rejected it said it's not permissible so I had my birth certificate in paper form. This lady I believe tried her best to make thing difficult for me

I brought my birth certificate, driver's license, social security card, and a bank statement. That wasn't enough. Since I'm married and took my husband's name 28 years ago, they asked for my marriage license too in order to show my name change. This is just to renew my license.
