I looked on line for timed passes. The next time they are giving them out is march 7 for June. What about April which is when I'll be in D.C.? Is it possible to still obtain them???

Probably not. This museum has been booked months ahead since it opened. You don't need tix for Smithsonian's Museum of African Art, though I know the two museums aren't interchangeable.
