Admission to Smithsonian Museums is free.
There is no charge for entry to the NGA and all Smithsonian Museums in DC. Very rarely, one must obtain tickets for access to a museum (African American Museum of History and Culture), or to an exhibit (Infinity Mirrors at the Hirshhorn); but one never pays for those tickets. Those tickets are required to control numbers of people allowed into the museums or into an exhibit in one of the museums.
No tickets needed.
