Because hunters and fisherman and hunters etc. Don't want them! I see plenty of hikers with leashed dogs walking them. The key word is leashed! I have absolutely no problem with that.
Its a nature area . Where you can hike with your dog. Maybe instead of play dates at the dog park you and your group can get together and try a nature hike with the pups . add some spice to their lives.
There are plenty of dog parks around.
