Don't bother to put a sign up letting anyone know the Amtrak train is on the other side of the overpass...no no that would require common sense! Not a single sign! And while i'm an in shape backpacker who doesnt mind, there is no elevator! How does an elderly person somehow hump their luggage up and down two huge flights of stairs across a major overpass? Apparently the City of Newark is so broke they cant even afford a $20 sign, let alone elevator or track level walkway!

When will this "New Station" ever open? If you are traveling with heavy luggage, small children, mobility issues, or are handicapped, this is not the station stop for you. At this moment it is a nightmare for anyone with these above-mentioned situations.

There is literally no one here to help you. The building was abandoned and there were no signs telling you if you were on the right side of the tracks or not. Definitely worth going to a different train station.

Why are they investing this much building a train starting when there was a perfectly usable historic train station on the other side of the tracks? It’s really strange to have UD cops observe everyone getting on and off the train. They are friendly and polite but it just feels like a very contorted investment of public resources. If the state is going to invest this much into something like this then there need to be more trains from Amtrak, SEPTA and add MARC so we can use it to get to Baltimore.

There is station at Newark that is currently under construction, it's not open yet and I'm not sure when it will be completed.
There are never taxis waiting. Uber is readily available almost any time of day.

The Amtrak Northeast Regional train goes to Philadelphia. To the 30th St station. Also SEPTA regional rail goes to Philly.
You can but there are not a lot of trains. 1 North bound and 1 South bound a day.

You may be confusing Newark, Delaware, with Newark, New Jersey. This station is in Newark, Delaware, which does not have any cruise ports nearby (to the best of my knowledge). There is another train station in Newark, New Jersey, and that station does look like it's the closest station to the cruise port in that area.
