I was surprised it was so good! I disagree about the bread. Both days had fresh bagels, good eggs, yogurts, pre-made waffles, fruit, hard boiled eggs, pastry. In addition to the very good breakfast in the next door building, there's also what they call "snacks" in the main building : fruit, instant oatmeal, granola bars, coffee, water with fruit slices to flavor it. And the staff has been super generous and friendly. Oh, and mini cupcakes at check-in in the evenings. No one has mentioned the great wines they give you for the 5-6pm happy hour, and cookies! This place is so well - located for seeing the National Mall free Smithsonian Museums. The longest we had to walk was 18 minutes (level, no hills) to the Union Station to take the Old Town Trolley Tour. With the metro a block away, you don't need a rental car, or a taxi.
I have been to hotels where the breakfast buffet had a larger selection of foods, however, the food here was decent anyway. The selections ranged from dairy, eggs, fruits and meats. Then you have your juices, milks, coffee and teas, and there is also a television reporting the latest news coming out the White House, and many seats. I urge you that get there early if you want to have a seat, otherwise, you might have to take out.
Agreed, average food. Breads were a little stale, but it was adequate.
average hotel breakfast buffet. dining room is a little small so maybe go early to avoid crowds
