Breakfast at Hays Adams, a wonderful experience ! What a great idea to have breakfast at The Hay-Adams. Such a refined and elegant 5 star palace, with a personal so distinguished and courteous. Emmanuel served us with warmth and in French, which is rare in Washington DC. We will never forget this last meal, before our return to France. Many thanks to the dining room staff. Top of the line in every way, EXCEPT we paid $20-$30 per entree at the Lafayette breakfast restaurant, even though our dishes were tiny and not enough for a full meal. The sausage especially. Off the Record Bar was great, and they have some awesome political cartoons on the walls.

Every detail of our (Anniversary) stay was exquisite. We were lucky to be able to book, and the help of the general manager will never be forgotten, as he also did everything above and beyond - Champagne, strawberries, wonderful dinner extras (the restaurant is as elegant as any in DC, a real old style wonder with beautifully served offerings, impeccable service and respect for those of us who choose to dine (as opposed to eat and run). The rest of the hotel staff was also as pleasant and helpful as could be. Special thank you to workers like those cleaning the carpets in the hallway (they saw us walking and stopped the vacuuming until we passed). This is one well trained staff. An aside - when we checked in, I asked if the GM was there - two ladies at the desk immediately (in the most friendly way) confronted me - was I asking because I had a complaint? We all concluded the discussion with a hearty laugh when I told them I just wanted to thank him!
