Depends on where you want to go. Lincoln memorial is a little over a mile away. White house is just a block or two. Washington monument is probably 4 blocks away. Smithsonian museums are between maybe 3 and 7 blocks pend in ghetto on which one. National portrait galley (my favorite) is about a 10 min walk. I highly recommend getting a map and plotting out what you want to see and do them strategically. Stuff is clumped together, but clumps can be far from each other. Lincoln, Korea, and Vietnam all close together. They're a half mile from Washington monument and WWII, which are pretty close to MLK and FDR. Jefferson is out on its own so you're going to have to walk a ways around the title basin if you want to get there. Capital, Supreme Court, and library of congress are close together, but about 1.5 miles from the Washington opposite direction from Lincoln. Hopefully that's helpful to get you started.

There isn't one in the hotel. There is a red door spa and salon accross the street attached to The Willard Hotel.

That area always gets crowded. The cathedral is just around the corner from dupont circle where all the bars and party people hang out. I wouldn't recommend walking around there weekend evenings if you're not out there to party.

In a double room right now. Obviously the mattress size is fixed (two doubles). I could also see the room getting crowded with 4 people's luggage and minimal floor space. Doable though. Note that closet/drawer space is limited.
