Staying here for one night with our dog. I know dogs are not allowed on the beach in this area, but does anyone know how far we would have to go to get to a "dog friendly" beach area? Anything within walking distance from the campgrounds?

You should find thr dog beach, north of morro. Locals love it.

Directly north, walking distance! It's called "the dog beach" by locals. When you are at the campground, go back out past the entrance booth and take the residential road to the left, just before coming to the light at Hwy 1. You will pass a row of houses that end at a small parking lot. Keep going on the dirt trail that will take you to overlook the dog beach. Take the dirt trail down and you can let your dog off the leash while walking north about a mile until you get to the houses. Have fun! It's our favorite place to take our dog! There are lots of friendly people and happy dogs!

You'd have to walk North to North Point Natural Area, it's after the State Beach, after yerba buena, and after all the houses
