Booked for a quick trip to visit the area. Very noisy, open campground but sites are on top of each other. Bathrooms smelled like urine. Fire ring didn't have a grill because past massive campfires damaged the hooks. Won't be back. Seems good for people with trailers on a weekend getaway family camping trip. There was a homeless lady passed out at the empty campsite near ours.

Attention fellow cyclists: be prepared to pay for a full site if you are not the first or second person to arrive at the hiker/biker site. We had to and got told by the lady at the entrance that the hiker/biker site is completely full. Went there anyways to stay with other cyclists as there were only 3 tents and room for another 20. Felt ripped off. The location is beautiful and quite though.

Great place to RV camp, if you can get a reservation.

Sites 1 - 30 have water and electricity but no sewer. There is a dump station but you will have to pay an extra $10 to use it. Sites are a bit close but some have vegetation for a little separation. This could be a nice park if the State would invest some of their $100 billion surplus to make updates to the facilities. The bathrooms are typical California State Park bathrooms (which isn't a good thing). No paper towels, no soap and push button faucets with no hot water. Showers are even worse. The showers were moldy, concrete walls and token operated. Be sure to wear shower shoes or flip-flops as you definitely DO NOT want to step on whatever was on the shower floor. Also, although the showers required tokens, they still had handles that you had to turn multiple turns/loops and then wait approximately 45 seconds to a minute just for the water to get luke-warm. But the worse part of staying here were the crows. Not just five or six of them "cawing" every morning around 6:30am (daylight savings time) but AT LEAST 15 to 20 crows. Needless to say, you won't be sleeping in if you do decide to camp here. The one positive is campground is close to the Embarcadero and Morro Rock. But if you bring bikes just know you'll have to traverse a small hill on a narrow road in order to get to the bay. Due to the bathroom neglect and issues, not to mention the witches caldron of crows, we will not be returning.

It is easy to access, with paved roads throughout. There is a fee per site, but I have friends who pull their car in each time. Yes!
Yes but you have to keep your pet on a leash at all times also by the showers and bathrooms they have bags that way you can pick up after pet
If you're camping in Morro Bay State Park yes there is a station to fill your water tank. But if you are camping at Morro strand there is no station but you are free to go to the Morro bay state park to fill.
How much is it for overnight tent camping
Yeah, but you have to purchase tokens. 25 cents a token. When we were there, a section of there showers were out of service. All bathroom and shower facilities are fairly close to all sites.
Most of the spaces have a grill and a fire pit that has a grill on it also. We usually use the grill on the fire pit with a cast iron griddle or skillets. Each site has a picnic table. If it's your fist time there you'll love it. You are a minute within walking distance of the water. We went last week and my only recommendation is get there during daylight hours it's is hard to maneuver in the dark and you feel kinda bothersome to other visitors lol. We go every year for a week though you'll love it and want to go back!
If you mean getting a site and sleep in your car in your campsite, then yes. Someone was doing the same thing 2 weeks ago when I was camping there. The campground is very safe.
The closest electrical outlet will be in the bathroom closest to 133. It is not ok to run extension cords from the bathroom to your site. The campground does have free wifi, but we've never been able to use it because service is not strong. If you stand near the entrance building, the connection is better.
I went about 2 months ago and I paid $37 a night for 2 nights plus the extra fees it came out to $86
You can check if there's spots available online just type in morro bay sp camping and it'll show you what's available and on what days. If you walk up most likely there won't be any available. But they do have a small section for people that are on foot or on bikes and want to camp
You will have to check with fire department officials, it might be red flagged due to the extreme dryness in the area.
Yep but they are bring more strict about how many cars
Two
The campground does not rent trailers, but recommends one in the area that drops off and picks up the trailer for you. The campground can tell you the company.
We have fire pits at each site. We also encourage you to purchase your firewood at the park. All of the money received goes to CCSPA the non profit that supports the parks educational and interpretive programs. The money stays right here at the park. We have had a problem with outside wood bringing in be ed tiles and disease that destroy the parks trees.
It's walking distance to the bayside mud shores and such, but about two or three miles by road to the sandy beaches at Morro Rock.
Just stayed 4 days nights in # 20 water power no issues peaceful beautiful weather relaxing .. Sewer is in dump site in rear 10 $ card dump activation. Clean camp and friendly campers. Walking biking, dogs on leash. Showers bathrooms threw out. Have a great time tell em Bobby sent ya .... call now for future reservations .. enough said...
None. All campsites have to be reserved online prior to showing up. Most of these will need to be reserved 6 months in advance.
I believe power and water sites that are pull thru are 50. Tent spots are 30 plus dollars a night. Great place.
I believe campgrounds are still closed currently...you should verify both with reserve california and State Park
Lavonne Maitland hookups are more than 30.00 I do believe they are $50.00 at Morro Bay State Park. Very nice place.
I paid $37 a night for a regular tent spot no hookups of any kind. The restrooms were about a 2 minute walk from the tents
I would reccomend reservations way ahead of time because it does get full.
Yes
A friend pulled a 33' motorhome in there and we also something that looked away bigger. +++ Full hookup does not include sewer. There is a free dump station though.
Better to reserve a spot for the 3rd car
Probably room for a tent. But no special public transportation to the car show.
I think 3 but often times they will let you in as early as 11 or 12
We had a Lance 975 truck camper with a low hauler enclosed trailer total length was 40ft long. I would call them and ask.
Only about half of the sites have hookups, even then it's just water and electric without sewer. The best way to see them is online at the California Parks website
Supposedly you are only supposed to have a unit 34 feet in length. I have parked there a half dozen times with my 37 foot class A without any problems.
Means site is already reserved. But they have cancellations every day and start offering them around 9:00 am each day!
It's about $50/night. I've never seen electrical hooks, but we tent camp. There might be RV spaces that include it. You might find specific information on the website when you look for availability.
$25 a night for no hook ups and $35 a night for hook ups with electricity. That was last year.
There are some sites that will only take a tent. But most sites are either tent or RV.
If you want to be sure of a site YES. But they do get cancellations and start offering them after 9: am.
No, but can rent a rv trailer to be brought in and rental co. sets up for you.
They really are for the campers only, you have to get a token from the front check in ranger booth. But you could probably walk up and ask for tokens though and they probably wouldn't say anything. I think it's like a dollar for two tokens.
Yes you need the placard. Also ReserveAmerica no longer handles Morro Bay. It is under Reserve California
No... you don't have to have a reservation... but most sites are reserved! They do get cancellations and they start offering them after 9:00 am.
It's called LOVE2CAMP they do an awesome job. All you need is your linens and food, everything else is there including dish soap. I am a volunteer Camphost here and have never heard a negative complaint from those that have rented from them. Great folks
We always tent camp here. It is really good for easy tent camping, as well as RV. It is coastal, so depending on the season it may be misty.
Some campsites have water and electricity only. No, Sewage hookup.
