No, how the best can be kill animals and keep them in cages
The reasons that a cat would not go up for adoption would be feral type behavior, injuries that cannot be fixed or illness that would be a public safety issue. Cats in adoption go to petsupermarket, the Humane society of Charlotte for a few examples. Then they reach out to the media like they did a month ago to get the community involved. They call the source on the unsociable cats to see if the will take them back as community cats after they are spayed or neutered.
The humane society goes gets a lot of the animals.
We are a municipal shelter for the City of Charlotte. We are required to bring in every animal that walks in our door no matter how full we might be at that time. We do everything in our power to place every animal up for adoption. They must be friendly, healthy, or even treatable medical issues can be adoptable. We also call upon our partner rescues to help us save as many animals as possible by transferring them into their adoption program. However, there are animals that we cannot rehome due to severe and untreatable medical issues or aggression. In those cases, we do have to humanely euthanize.
They hold them as long as they can but sickness can run through the kennels quickly. Animals that get sick must be euthanized. Many are taken into foster homes. The shelter does the best they can. I have seen 70 cats turned in , in just one day. :(
