Once an animal has been turned into animal control, is there a waiting period before that animal can be adopted?

It depends on how the animal came to us. If it’s a stray, there’s a required 3 day hold. If an owner steps forward, there’s an additional 10 day wait before we can place it for potential adoption. If it’s a surrender: some cases the animal can get a health check and placed to adoption same day; other cases may require a day or more before potential adoption (too scared, needs an evaluation by our trainer, has medical issues); in some cases they may never reach adoption due to aggression medical conditions beyond treatment.

They told me and my wife our dog we adopted was healthy. unfortunately he passed away from a serious medical problem. they also asked for the full adoption fee of $125
