The boardwalk starts on 28th however the stuff you want to do at the boardwalk starts around 8th.

5-8 minutes drive to boardwalk. Beach is steps away though. And yes! It's pet friendly.
To the tip of the boardwalk it is .6 mile. If you walk by paved road likely 20-30 mins. Obviously if you go over sand which slows you down longer. Try doing a google search for oh lala boutique and look at the satellite image on Google maps ... that is where the boardwalk starts.
