Waters pretty calm but depends on wind
Huguenot is known for regular rip currents. The north point where the St. John's River meets the ocean can be a dangerous spot. During the summer months when there are lifeguards present they will fly flags regarding the swim risk conditions. Enjoy!! And be safe!!
I've never had problems but i watch the online tide warnings for all local beaches. Usually bad weather or high wind brings out warnings.
As you enter the gate they will post daily warnings of rip tides. If you don't see it on the board, ask the ranger. You can also call ahead of time and ask about conditions. Conditions change daily/hourly.
Sometimes it's so calm like a lake and then other time you have beautiful waves so just depends on the day and the wind
it's usually calm
With any body of ocean you can have a rip tide. Mostly calm but known area for sharks. Many sharks tooth found !
