I'm considered an "elder," but do not feel tossed to the wayside. There are groups of like minded devotees who tend to relish one another's association. This is natural in my opinion. As for judgment, there are so many devotees at various levels of spiritual advancement. Prabhupada used to say that if someone is in the shower soaping up, why fault him for being dirty? We may see so many discrepancies in some devotees' character, but we should recognize that they have taken up the process of purification in Krsna consciousness, so gradually they will overcome any material conditioning by development of bhakti.
My experience has been that there is a whole spectrum of people in Alachua. You can find any kind of person here. I've had the fortune of meeting a lot of really nice people and those are the people I choose to associate with. People like, Varuni, Mathura, Prishni, Samkalpa Dasi, Shyama Kishor, Rasamrita, Hari Priya, Abhay, etc. I found the best way to meet nice people is to do some service for the temple and the community. You will often meet like minded individuals. :-) Hope that helps🙏
I'm elder and not only I'm Not tossed around, but sought after for counseling and advise. Some elder do relish a more private living naturally and others engage more with the community. It's life! People seeking their balance and harmony. Give it another try and see perhaps a different result.
