Many bike shops won't take a trade-in but bicycle chain is one. As Allen points out they won't give you much. It's a tough resale market for anyone with a bike. Check out facebook market and cragslist to see what people are asking. Not advocating those sites due to the in-person transaction, maybe check eBay as well but the shipping business can make it took expensive, depends on the bike I guess.
Generally, trade ins do not get you much credit but if you're okay with that and the bike is saleable then the bicycle chain might be a good fit
