My son adopted a pet we picked her up thurs she has a hard cough we are worried about her can you see what the problem is

Kennel cough take it to the vet asap

Once a pet has been adopted from Guilford County Animal Services, we are no longer able to treat that pet as we cannot practice on animals we do not own. It is a stressful environment at the shelter and colds can develop even after they are brought home. We recommend taking your pet to the vet for a checkup within the first five days.

I would call the shelter and tell them. Sounds like kennel cough. Very common. I have not volunteered their in a few years but the policy was if you adopted and the animal became sick they would see it.
