Janet, in order for you to hear the directions through your car stereo you need to have the Bluetooth on your phone turned on and your car stereo mode set to Bluetooth mode. I would check your car owner's manual to make sure that your radio is Bluetooth ready and then set it to that mode. I hope this helps!
I'm honestly not sure about that. Maybe you should go to Verizon and have them look at it. I'm not an expert with technology.
