Has been this way for over 35 years. Your guilty until proven innocent. They're great at using state paid public defenders to use scare tactics in prosecutions. I've fallen in this trap several times when I was younger and now am a felon for the rest of my life. In recent years, I have beaten cases by 1) appoint yourself as an attorney, 2) understanding their traps and pitfalls that'll cost you for the rest of your life and 3) do not sign any papers they'll present to you that would give you jail time, liscence suspension, and/or get your kids taken away. Follow these three things will only increase your odds of not falling into their traps and becoming owned by the State of Oregon or Klamath county.

Experienced this myself. There's no difference between the public defender, D.A., and judge. And the officers will flat out lie and receive no consequences. The legal system is so f**ked up.
I am being evicted because I was diagnosed with a tumor and been off work. My landlord didn't like that she couldn't evict for non payment so said I assaulted her. No evidence no charges filed. D.A. Costello didn't respond to phone calls and letters. Sheriff dept has one of the most arrogant, shady deputies I've ever seen. Not gonna mention his name but he must be a Green Bay football fan based off his last name. Hint, Hint. The hearing took about 2 min I was never offered the chance to explain my side. So Oct 31st I'm out with nowhere to go.
