With so much happening at public events these days why do I not see the Blumenthal taking any precautions to protect its patrons?

They are taking precautions. Not to the extent airports are, but they are checking entrants.

I have seen them checking bags at the entrance to some shows, also tickets are now verified at entrance instead of once you're inside.

We can't expect someone else protecting our safely, instead all of us must be on the lookout for possible threats to any one's safety.
