Used tires cost way more over time and you are buying someone else's problem (Usually hidden by the seller of the used tires) or discards. SOME used tire dealers often drive around at night, looking for scrap piles of tires behind shops like this one, and put them into their inventory after a very quick visual inspection (which is theft). Used tire dealers often will mismatch sizes, or they will fix sidewall holes (unsafe), fix multiple holes, ignore weak sidewalls from running them flat or pass off other hidden issues for the 25 to $50. In many cases a new tire is only $60 - 100 and will go MANY more miles, has warranty and so on. In almost every case, used tires from scrap should be for temporary bad situations and should be changed for better ASAP. Buy at your own risk!...also check ANY take off tire carefully or have it checked by a reputable tire shop before buying if possible.
