Our experience with 9 of us? And granted we did not call ahead but waited for over an hour, and still didn't get seated together. The food was amazing! But I didn't even get to talk to the birthday girl!
Calling ahead is a really great tool for Any group over 6 and helps to cut down your wait time. If they have the space I've seen them put really large party's against the back wall all together 5 tables making a single large long table but with gaps in the middle so people can get up from the table easier.

I imagine they would have to put a couple of tables together, otherwise you would be really cramped. Seriously though, I have seen larger parties there.
