My stay at HI Roanoke was very pleasant and restful. The bed was firm, yet soft enough to conform to the body. The staff there was pleasant and very helpful. However, the photo was taken next door to HI. I took the photo of the old Blockbuster Video sign just for great memories of renting videos.

Only good thing about hotel was actual room. Everything else is unacceptable. Common area and elevator were hot and poor air circulation. Carpet was stained, disgusting and filthy as many others have reported. Management response to each is they are renovating later this year. This implies carpets will go unclean and left filthy until renovations months from now. A simple sweep of a vacuum would be great but they will wait for renovations "later this year" instead. I was there 3 days and trash on carpet was there the entire stay. Signs all over the hotel and in the dining room advertise a breakfast buffet with custom made omelets and waffles. However neither is available when requested as it is not served when they serve buffet, which is everyday, so basically never. Tables were sticky and obviously unclean. I guess cleaning tables will wait for the renovations too. 2 Stars only for the hotel room. 1 star for every other aspect of hotel.

I was there for a conference, there were plenty of attendees and I felt there should have been additional freebies. The church members had to clean the conference rooms they used and the free coffee ran out or wasn't available in the afternoon. My main complaints were that when you called the front desk to request towels and toiletries they would tell you to contact housekeeping. Also, none of the front desk employees ever spoke to us. I never heard any of them say good morning. There was 4 of us in the room and we requested a cot, it was so big we had to move the furniture to make room for it.

Couldn't believe how handy they made their shuttle service for us. Our son was in Roanoke Memorial Hospital ICU all of last week & we were shy of the downtown roadwork and traffic. Once we called the desk to reserve our spot, Art sent a ride right over to pick us up... front door! We enjoyed a hot bath in a clean room with a COMFORTABLE oversized bed to nap in. We visited the lounge/restaurant for dinner & was well pleased by the service and the delicious food. Afterwards, we were shuttled back to the hospital to spend the evening with our son, & AGAIN Picked up at the end of visiting hours for a return to our room. Hot coffee in the morning & a good breakfast before we were politely returned to the hospital, thankfully for the last day this trip. Definitely made our trip to Roanoke less stressful & more comfortable after we found these wonderful folks. I give a 10/10 for treating you like family!
