The information below is correct. Your cat will have to receive a waiver from your veterinarian, but you are still responsible for the pet license. Once you receive the waiver, you will have to submit it to us either by 1. Purchasing the tag online at our website (www.broward.org/animal) 2. In person at our Adoption Center, or 3. Attending one of our monthly Rabies Clinic events. Thanks for your question and for being a responsible pet owner.
A friend had an indoor cat who passed away and she wanted to cremate her. Because she didn't have the rabies shot they actually cut the cat's head off and kept it for rabies testing and they don't return it to you....so she only has the remains without the head. That was very sad. Talk to your vet.
Hello Niki. I work at the Animal shelter. I am not a vet, so i think you should ask your vet what they think. Your cat may be considered too old to get the shot. If that is the case, they can give you a waiver letter. Either way, you are still required to purchase a Broward County tag for your kitty.
All cats regardless if they are kept exclusively indoors are required to have their rabies vaccine and tags up to date. You can get a waiver from a licensed vet if you truly feel your cat doesn't need the vaccine and the vet agrees but even then you will be required to submit the waiver to the county and still purchase a rabies tag. So in other words the waiver will exempt your cat from the vaccine itself but not the tags.

There is a dead dog floating in the canal (Plantation isles). What's the best way to dispose of it?
