It is a bit of a hike you are better off driving
You can walk to the fort from the Ticonderoga Ferry. A bike or car would be, obviously, more convenient.
You should plan on driving! It's a couple miles to the fort from the ferry
The fort entrance is visible from the ferry landing on the NY side. I'd drive. Its about a 2 mile walk (at least) once you pass the gate.
