Great ferry service crossing the cut! Suggested donation $10 round trip. Great value! Can't get to the island without them.

Cute little bike ferry, holds about 20 people w/ bikes. Donations requested, $5 each way. Donations by phone accepted. Wait time averages 10 minutes or so, with a 5 minute trip across the gap. Sometimes not everybody fits on the boat, so you might have to wait for the next crossing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Not much shade while waiting, being a hat or something if you burn easily like I do.

Questions & Answers

Where can you park on the South Hero side to get the ferry? Thx!

Only fishermen are allowed to park in the lot near the ferry, per Fish & Wildlife regulatiions, as they own and maintain the access road. When Local Motion wanted to start this service, there was a lot of heated discussion about parking access for anglers. Signs - often ignored - indicate that only anglers are allowed in the lot closest to the lake. Bikers can park in the small parking area at the beginning of the access road, near Martin Road. Bikers are encouraged to park at the Folsom School parking lot, which is not far up South Street.

Yes - you would...... but this bike trail does not cross the US - Canada border. The Grand Isle, VT portion is over town/state roads.
