Is Medicare the same as Medicaid? Will it pay for an elderly parent's bill in a nursing home? I saw from the posts that your firm does this, can you give me more information?

Medicare only pays for things like doctor visits and prescription medications, it doesn't pay for a Florida assisted living or nursing home monthly charges. Attorney Greg Kaiser is an excellent resource to review your Florida Medicaid Planning options and plan for the future should you have any elder care and elder law needs. No one wants to think about it, but you don't want to be stuck and find yourself in a position where you don't have the proper estate planning documents like a durable power of attorney and health care surrogate to protect yourself and your assets.

That's an excellent response Fernando. Medicaid is a federal program but each state can administer the program differently so long as they treat all their residents by the same rules. There are numerous Medicaid Planning options available here in Florida. We don't charge for consultations and can review your individual situation. If you haven't planned in advance and need "crisis planning" we can help with that too. "Crisis planning" is when the person needs Medicaid benefits right away. Having the basic documents in place, like the durable power of attorney and health care surrogate are vitally important. There are some interesting twists for married couples.
