they have done it for me. I live about 30 minutes from there. I called to be sure they had it, they did and held it until I got there.

It all depends on the product and the availability of the product first come first serve
The best place to ask this question is Lowe's. However, in answer to your question, there was one time that my landlord placed some lights on hold at Lowe's and I went in and picked them up. They had them waiting at the counter for me. I have no idea if every Lowe's will do this.
