I have been told by many different people that UC Davis offers discounted prices because it is a teaching hospital. The quote for a torn ACL on my 12 pd Silky Terrier was $5,000. Is this correct? Sounds High since this is a teaching hospital. Thanks

We went to a private Veterinary practice before we started going to UC Davis. I found the prices to be about the same. You do get a discount if you are a UC Davis employee or retiree.

They are good, but their prices are much higher. They do accept insurance. Care Credit, and if you have some time there are a few places that offer partial Grant's, found on line. After the UC consultation, we went with our local vet. $1000 as opposed to the UC of 4000, difference you have a board certified veterinarian surgeon. Our pup did fine, it was just a benign, fatty cyst. Good luck to you and your pup.
