Yes you can have the papers served via first class mail postage prepaid & return receipt requested as per California Code of Civil Procedure section 415.30. The court clerk will even do the mailing for you for a small fee. Form FW003 off the california court forms website is for a fee waiver. Fill it out and turn it in with your other papers for filing and you won't have to pay anything. Good luck I too am in process of suing both Tyson Foods Inc and Wal-Mart Stores Inc
