Because of a lot of things! One being your safety! Two there is a bad element sometimes around there at night !! Let's hope that the camera is what keeps you safer !! I know when I stayed there they made feel better!!!
Maybe it's a smoke free hotel. No smoking on the property.
It's for security. If you don't want to be on camera, just step away from the field of view, or smoke in the bathroom with the exhaust ventilator on
