Always arrive at the Consulate at 08:55 to get your number. They are like our DMV's and provide a service number. Then, I have found them to be fast and friendly for the most part.
Fill out the forms 100% online. That includes the stupid picture formatting image they need. Have the money order ready in the amount stated. Not check. Get the earliest appointment available and go to the consulate in person. Ask the person at entrance and they will give you a form with an email to someone to help you in a "emergency" they say "poor planning is not an emergency" hopefully they will move your appointment up and you can drop your stuff off and pick it up a week or two later. Some agencie$ will do this for you for a price but they still need like 14 business days. Good luck. Dont give up
