Leyna Kyle explained it perfectly. Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is an "open door shelter" that excepts ALL animals, it is NOT a "no kill shelter". They also work with many animal rescue groups in the area to try to find homes for animals they can not, but even then it is not always possible. If more people spayed and neutered their pets it would help. The shelter also has low cost spay and neutering available, as well as education.

No, it is not. It has an open door policy, which means it takes in all animals. Unfortunately this means that unadoptable animals that were turned away from local "no kill" shelters are brought here. There simply arent enough resources for it to be a no-kill shelter and also open its doors to any animal.

Do you have a neutering clinic for 8 month old puppy? If so what is the cost?

Not true. We adopted a dog from the shelter and he had been there for almost 5 months.
